Kathleen Perillo

Kathleen Perillo is a Professor of Biology at Clark College.  Since joining the science department in Fall 1999 she has been teaching Environmental Biology each quarter.  Kathleen also teaches Birds of the Pacific Northwest and Principles of Wildlife Conservation.  She also co-leads the extended field studies classes in biology with John Martin.  Kathleen and John expose students to the wonders of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Southeastern Oregon on a 4-day trip each May and travel throughout the Great Basin Desert in California and Oregon for 10 days each June.  Recently Kathleen has teamed with a Math faculty member, Bill Monroe to offer a linked class called "Energy, The Environment, and You" through the environmental science department. 

Kathleen holds a B.A. in Geography from the University of Delaware and a M. S. in Environmental Science from the University of New Haven, CT.  She currently serves on several tenure committees and is on the RAP/Clark II committee.  She is involved with the Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center in Vancouver and had served on their board as the Clark College representative for two years.  In her spare time, she has worked with the state endangered western pond turtle since 2001 as a contract employee for Washington State Fish and Wildlife Department. 

Kathleen lives in the west end of the Columbia River Gorge in a straw bale house.  She is interested in issues of sustainable living, renewable energy and wildlife ecology.  Before coming to Clark College, she spent 14 years as an environmental educator on the east coast.
