Judy VanPatten

Judy VanPatten is a National Board Certified Counselor.  She is licensed in Washington as a Mental Health Counselor and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon.  Judy came to Clark College as a counselor and human development instructor in the fall of l973.  A graduate of the University of Washington and Western Oregon University, she has a Bachelor's Degree in Japanese Language and a Masters Degree in Education with a specialty in counseling.

Judy has extensive post-Masters training in counseling, psychotherapy, mediation and intercultural communication.  She has studied at Stanford University, the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto, Lutheran Family Services of Oregon, Portland State, the Intercultural Relations Institute and various other professional training programs.

As former department head of the Human Development department, Judy developed and taught most of the courses offered in that department.  She currently teaches assertiveness and stress management in addition to her counseling practice.  Judy specializes in personal counseling.  She also provides career and life planning counseling.
