Dr. Charlene Montierth is a Professor of Geology at Clark College. She joined the faculty of the college in the Fall of 1996. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, she holds a bachelors degree in Geology, with advanced studies at University of Oregon. She completed her Ph.D. in Geology there in 2001, where she did research on Hawaiian volcanoes. Charlene teaches Geology 101 and 102 courses, as well as a field course in which she leads students on weeks-long trips throughout the western United States, and is the Geology department head. She was honored by her colleagues for her energy and commitment with an Exceptional Faculty Award in 2003.Charlene often shares her expertise as a guest speaker with local elementary, middle, and high school classes as well as other community organizations, and has taught geology classes for the Focus on Mature Learning program at Clark College. She has served as a member on a variety of college committees, including the Assessment committee and the Faculty Senate. She is the advisor for the Queer Penguins student club.
